The short version
Lighten Debt earns money when you click a link to one of our partners and sign up for their services. This compensation helps us run the Site and keep our intake free for you. You never pay extra because you came through Credit Lift.
Who we work with
We partner with established debt relief and consolidation companies including (but not limited to) National Debt Relief, Accredited Debt Relief, and Freedom Debt Relief. When you submit our intake form, we forward your contact information to one of these partners, who will reach out to discuss options. You are never under any obligation to enroll.
How we choose which partner to show you
We use a weighted rotation among our enabled partners. The weighting may consider factors such as the partner's service area, current promotions, and the compensation they pay us. This means the order in which partners appear is not purely neutral — it is influenced by our business relationships. You should always evaluate any partner's contract, fees, guarantees, and reviews before enrolling.
What "compensation" actually means
We may receive payment in the form of:
- A flat referral fee when you submit your information.
- A bounty when you complete a free consultation.
- A commission when you enroll in a paid service.
The exact amount varies by partner and program. None of it changes the price you pay the partner.
Our editorial commitment
Even though we are compensated, we only feature partners we believe offer legitimate, legally compliant services. We do not feature companies we know to engage in deceptive practices. If a partner's service quality drops, we remove them from our rotation.
That said, we are not impartial, and you should treat Lighten Debt as a marketing channel rather than a neutral review site.
Results are not guaranteed
No debt relief or consolidation company — including our partners — can legally guarantee a specific savings amount, monthly payment, or interest rate. Outcomes vary based on your total debt, creditor cooperation, income, and the program you choose. Be skeptical of anyone who promises a guaranteed result.
Your rights
You always have the right to negotiate with your creditors directly at no cost. If you enroll in a debt relief or consolidation program, federal Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR) protections prohibit upfront fees before a debt is settled, and you can cancel most programs at any time. Always review the contract carefully.
Data integrity & third-party sources
We take data integrity seriously. Any third-party information shown on this Site — such as financial headlines on our blog or partner-provided content — is clearly attributed to its original source and presented for informational purposes only.
- Source attribution: Third-party content is labeled with the originating publisher or site so users can verify the information directly.
- No unverified claims: We do not present third-party data as our own factual statements. Our in-house editorial content is written independently and kept separate from partner or feed content.
- User-facing disclaimers: All pages that reference third-party data include clear statements that the information is for reference only and should be verified with the original source.
- Lead data integrity: Information collected through our intake form is transmitted to partners exactly as submitted by the user. We do not alter, fabricate, or inflate any user-provided data.
- Partner vetting: Before featuring any third-party service or partner, we review their public record, BBB rating, and available customer feedback. Partners whose service quality drops are removed from our rotation.
If you believe any third-party content on this Site is inaccurate or misrepresented, please contact us at info@lightendebt.com and we will review it promptly.
